Ripple Swell vs Community XRP Events: Which to Attend

Ripple Swell is the institutional flagship. Community XRP events are where holders and builders meet. What each does, who should attend, how to choose.

Ripple Swell is Ripple's official institutional conference, built for banks, payment companies and enterprise partners. Community XRP events like XRP Las Vegas, XRP Seoul, XRP SoCal and XRP Australia are independently run, built for holders, builders and operators. They do different jobs. Most people in this ecosystem get more from both than from picking a side.

Swell 2026 runs 27 to 29 October at The Shed in New York, and this year it changes shape. Swell and Apex merge into one event for the first time, putting Ripple's institutional gathering and the XRPL developer conference under one roof. Over 1,500 attendees are expected, with 75+ speakers across three stages. That consolidation does not shrink the community layer. It clarifies what the community layer is for.

What is Ripple Swell?

Swell is Ripple's flagship, and it behaves like a corporate conference because it is one. The agenda covers payments, stablecoins, tokenisation, capital markets, regulation and treasury. The hallways are full of bank executives and fintech partnership leads. Announcements made on the Swell stage move the news cycle. Attend Swell if you sell to institutions, run partnerships, or need to be in the room where enterprise deals start. With Apex folded in, 2026 is also the year it becomes relevant to serious XRPL developers.

What are community XRP events?

Independently organised conferences run by teams inside the ecosystem rather than by Ripple. XRP Las Vegas, XRP Seoul, XRP SoCal (run by Lost Art) and our own XRP Australia series are the established examples. What they buy you is access. Speakers you normally see on a screen are at the coffee station. Panels take audience questions that would never make a corporate agenda. The mix is broader too: holders, builders and regional institutions, all self-selected for caring about this specific ecosystem.

That list is not closed. XRP Canada, XRPL Africa and Malaysia are building community rooms in their own markets. If those teams, or anyone else running a regional XRP event, need assistance setting something up, contact us directly.

Community does not mean small. XRP Australia 2026 filled Crown Sydney with 400 attendees and put Ripple's CEO on stage: full recap.

Which should you attend?

Both, if you can. Swell is the institutional flagship, and from 2026 the developer gathering too. Community events are where the rest of the year happens: regional rooms with holders, builders and operators in the same space. The ecosystem is stronger when people show up to both.

If you sell to institutions or run partnerships, Swell is where those conversations start. Add the community event in your region as well. The follow-up is warmer, and you meet operators you will not see in New York.

If you build on XRPL, the merged Swell and Apex makes New York the technical gathering of the year. Community events give you users and feedback the rest of the year. Go to both if the calendar allows.

If you hold XRP or operate in the ecosystem, community events are written for you, and those rooms are worth making. Swell is still worth attending if the dates and budget work. You hear the institutional agenda first-hand, then bring it back to your local community.

If it is your first event, a regional community conference is the easier first room: lower cost, higher access. Swell is there when you are ready for the flagship. The full calendar, both kinds included: XRP Events Calendar.
